The Rasa Ria Reserve is owned and managed by Sanctuary, Shangri-La‘s Care for Nature project. The Discovery Centre, which is located at the entry point into the Rasa Ria Reserve, serves as an educational hub for the guests. Here, guests can learn more about the species endemic to Sabah such as the long-tail macaques, western tarsiers, huge-eyed slow loris and more.

Besides that, guests will also be able to experience five miles of walk through the tropical jungle via the reserve’s unique trail system. There are six trails to choose from and each one provides its own escapade through the jungle covering entomology, herbs, wildlife, adventure and canopy.

3. Be a Ranger for the Day

Nature’s detective

If you’re bringing along the children, you can sign them up for the Ranger for the Day programme. The children will have the opportunity to feed the animals and monitor flora and fauna whilst simultaneously learning about the jungle in a safe and monitored setting.

The Adventure Point is more suited to the children who seek adventures. They can enjoy net tunnels with zip line, tree trunk climbing zone, a sandpit for mini archeologists and more!
