Ever since 1959, the greatest inspiration to many young girls is none other than Barbie. To mark the start of Barbie‘s amazing 60 years, our very own iconic landmark, the KL Tower is completely illuminated in pink. Barbie collaborated with Tourism Malaysia for this surprise!

Every Girls Inspiration

For 60 years, Barbie has over 1 billion dolls sold worldwide, continuously inspiring 3 generations of girls with over 200 careers and counting. As the most diverse fashion doll in the market, Barbie has inspired girls that they can be anything.

In the 1980s, Barbie took to the boardroom as “Day to Night” CEO Barbie, just as women began to break into the C-suite and Barbie has been a Computer Engineer, Video Game Developer, Mars Explorer, Robotics Engineer in the 2000s when women only held 20% of the STEM careers.

“Barbie encourages imagination, expression and discovery through play and believes girls should never know a world, or a job, or a dream that women haven’t conquered,” said Ivan Franco, Country Manager, Mattel Southeast Asia.

Barbie and Travel

As a celebration of Barbie‘s 60th Anniversary, this girl empowerment brand has launched 60th Anniversary Signature Doll, Career Dolls and Travel Range. Their new line is introduced during the anniversary party with Malaysia’s women role models of diverse career fields like Professor Dr. Mazlan Othman, our nation’s first astrophysicist, gracing the event.

The party also presented the 6 decades of Barbie style, modelled by young girls and women dressed in Barbie‘s newest fashion line. Barbie‘s new anniversary doll will be available in selected stores and online from mid-March onwards while Barbie new travel range toys can be found at leading toy and departmental stores nationwide from April onwards.

To catch the pink illumination on KL Tower,  the iconic Barbie will shine from 7pm till 12am midnight daily from now until 31 March 2019.
