It has been a period of uncertainty when Sultan Muhammad V from Kelantan stepped down as Malaysia’s Agong until the recent Conference of Rulers elected this Pahang ruler as our new Agong.

Here are something you don’t want to miss about our new ruler:

1 His Royal Highness is commonly referred as Al-Sultan Abdullah in short.

Malaysia’s 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s crowned name is Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Sultan Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah.

2 His Royal Highness is elected as Acting Ruler of Pahang when he was just 20 years old.

Al-Sultan Abdullah is first elected as Pahang’s acting ruler on 28 April in 1979 when His Royal Highness’ father became Malaysia 7th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

3 As the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, he is known as a compassionate ruler.

Al-Sultan Abdullah shows great interest and distress over the wellfare of his people. He would use a helicopter to visit multiple districts in his state to inspect their needs and concerns.

4 His Royal Highness is a massive fan of sports.

Since little, he is active in hockey, football and sepak takraw. During his time in England, His Royal Highness even led Royal Pahang Polo Club in an international match at Windsor Polo club and won the game!

5 Aside from royal matters, Al-Sultan Abdullah takes sports businesses seriously.

His Royal Highness is currently a member of FIFA Executive Committee, Vice President of Asian Football Confederation, a member of Executive Board of International Federation of Hockey and President of the Royal Malaysian Polo Association.
